It was a hard task selecting only 25 pictures from an overall number of almost 2100 entries. An internationally renowned jury   made up of professional photographers went through all the submitted pictures in pursuit of those specific shots that best succeeded in conveying the hope for sustainable tourism in Europe.

The time has finally come to show you the TOP 25 pictures that managed to impress the jury with both their aesthetic appeal and clear sustainable message.

The first three pictures present the winners of the EDEN Photo Competition. Tim Edwards, Svetlin Marinov and Illya Rozenbaum, will receive their prizes at an official award ceremony in Brussels on 1st December. Their remarkable pictures, as well as the stunning entries of the other 22 top rated participants, will be exhibited in the European Parliament's premises during the first week of December this year.

We would like to thank everyone who took part in the EDEN Photo Competition! It was a pleasure for us to see your pictures and we are looking forward to any further photographic challenges we may have together!

 

What was the EDEN photo competition about?

Have you ever spent your holidays in one of Europe’s destinations off the beaten tourist track and would like to share this unforgettable experience? Are you convinced that there is an environmentally and socially-friendly way of enjoying your vacation?

The European Commission’s Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry is celebrating the “European Destinations of Excellence” (EDEN) and invites anyone who shares the passion for travelling and photography and who is resident of one of the 27 EU Member States or the candidate countries to participate in the EU-wide EDEN photo competition.
